Jim,

Congratulations on your three. Hopefully you will not have too long to wait for them?

Best wishes

The medals eventually arrived, most pleased to receive them.

QSA, no clasp, 104 TPR. J.R. HISCOCK, SOMERSET E. D.M.T.
QSA, no clasp, 139 TPR. T. GLEESON, K.W.T. D.M.T.
QSA, no clasp, CPL. J.E. AMOS, VICT: EAST D.M.T.

I doubt that any of the above fall into the 'scarce' category, but they are three that had managed to elude me since I started collecting QSA's.

Cheers,

Jim

It is good to know that the postal system is still safe in some parts of the world! DMT and TG QSA's may not be in high demand, but such 'home guards' were made up of men from families that may have been the original settlers in the district, and with members perhaps still living there today*. These men and their families may provide subjects for interesting research.
* Unless they have emigrated to Australia or other Colonies.

Regards
Brett

Hello Jim,
DMT's are, by their nature, quite scarce medals, LOL "eventually arrived" are you in Dar es Salaam?

Hi Brett & Frank,

Thanks for the responses. One of the reasons I chose the TG's & DMT's when I started collecting QSA's is that the recipients would have had an attachment to that particular locality and would have possibly continued on with their normal line of work when not on duty. Lets face it, they could have chased the 'big' money and joined one of the colonial units and went chasing the Boers but chose otherwise.

I probably should have chosen my words better with' eventually arrived'. It took some time for the invoice to arrive here in Mount Isa Queensland, Australia, we don't check the mail every day either. I then paid the invoice and waited for the goods to arrive, altogether some weeks after the auction.

Cheers,

jim

LOL Jim,
The only real chance of "Big Money" in the SAMIF was earned by members of Frank Von Steinacker's own Horse, but, I don't think it would he suited me, interesting additional ways of meeting your end such as being eaten by those rather large long tailed amphibious reptiles etc! :(
You could do far worse than buy DMT's I actually quite like them, some, are very rare indeed.
Kind regards Frank
