I thought the Artillery would be "Ubique" for a unique QSA to the 52nd Battery RFA but they were no where to be seen. So that came my way plus another Dhoolie who had been at Talana. I already have a Talana Dhoolie Bearer, although not in a group, so if anyone is interested....
The Corps of Guides - they did not even have the decency to start at my high bid before it went stratospheric.
Looking for Salutries, Salootries and Veterinary Duffadars.
I collect primarily QSAs to Indian Recipients.

David,

I see what you mean about the group to Kala Khan. A very strong price.

I bid unsuccessfully for the QSA named to Pooley of the Indian Cntingent which I thought was a nicely named unit.

I was more successful with the South African units and managed to come away with 6 which is better than I have done all year.

Best wishes
David

Pooley was a nice research item. I had thought he was an Anglo-Indian who immigrated after the war. I bided on it when it was at City Coins a couple of years ago on this bases Now I feel he may have been English and therefore did not feel it justified the expense. Anyway the archives in JHB have 4-5 references to him if anyone requires.

Hi
I initially bought Pooley from City Coins in 1987 and was very satisfied with the price when I sold it 3 years ago.
Hope the new owner enjoys custody!
Henk

Hi Henk, I am looking to find an Indian who emigrated to South Africa after the Boer War - the popular histories claim a large number did. I have evidence of two or three. Although there is a China War recipient who came over as a debentured worker I would love a QSA I advertise in the "Indian Press" periodically in Natal for them but as yet none. If I was certain Pooley had been one of them......you would have been more than satisfied with the price.

Hi,

I had a 'go' at 12 lots and missed several by 10 UK pounds. It looks as though I may have picked up 3 lots, but as I bid by email I will have to wait.
DNW's web site doesn't seem to have any details on how to use the on line bidding. I took it that I could use the pin number they gave me for their rostrum auctions but this didn't work.
I watched on line and they definitely move thru the lots.

Cheers,

jim
