Title: King's Medal

In calculating the period of service in South Africa, re claims to King's Medals, the duration of the voyage home, in instances of invaliding, will reckon towards the qualifying period. Case of No 92 Private G J Rogers 1/Coy IY.

In the case of a man, who deserted, 22.8.02 and surrendered 16.12.03, whose name was omitted from the King's Medal Roll ie having qualified for the decoration prior to the first mentioned date, no medals are to be issued until he qualifies under paragraph 2040/V/KR case of No 30277 Gunner N Bordeau, 74th Battery RFA.

Service, which is unrestorable, cannot be accepted as qualifying for the Kings's Medal, for which a definate period of recognized service is required. Case of Act. Bom. A. Black, 73rd Batty. R.F.A. Deserted in S.A. 7/5/01 served, whilst in a state of desertion with the S.A.Lt. Horse, May to Nov. 1901 and with I.Y. from Jany. to November 1902.
