See also 68/SA/3115, 5.1.15. Name was changed to A J Wauchope.

Subject: King's Medal erroneously claimed

Captain C J Wahab, Reserve of Officers, served in South Africa with Remount Department and 21st Btn IY. In reckoning his war service, the periods covered by the voyages to and from SA were counted. King's Medal was issued from roll of 21st Btn IY 7/9/04.

Error subsequently discovered. Captain Wahab was requested to return the Medal here. This he refused to do and his name was erased from the roll and war service in SA amended accordingly.

See also 68/71/946. Case of Captain H C Stockwell, Highland LU. King's Medal erroneously claimed on FID roll and issued. Medal recovered 31/10/12.

GO C in C South Africa recommends that owing to lapse of time, claim not to br entertained. Appd WO 25/4/13. Dr David Biggins

Inform applicant that his total service in the ranks was insufficient to qualify for the King's Medal and that 31st Dec 07 was fixed as the last day on which claims in respect as Conductors etc could be considered.
