I meant to post these pics with the others relating to ABWAC/2. However, they slipped my mind. The first pic shows the very impressive, glass-fronted display:

And the second is a close-up of the ABW VC recipients:

Unfortunately, there was considerable reflection from the glass frontage and - try as I could - I could not abate it. Hence, close lookers should, in this case, ignore my entirely unworthy reflection.

Thank you for the pics of a very impressive memorial display - simple, but effective and informative.

Regards
Brett

PS Such unintended reflections have been used by canny detectives such as Poirot to unmask baddies on the run. I hope you do not have a reason to fear a knock on the door from one of Poirot's peers!

Hello Ian,
For me it is those nine men and the word Gallipoli that I always most associate with Australia, in particular the desperate fight at Lone Pine.
I think what I do find to be so unusual was that out of the nine, I think six of them actually survived to wear their Victoria Cross.
I suppose the gentleman that stands out for me at least would have to be Hugo Throssell, his suicide was tragic, a waste of what might have been a great life.
Kind regards Frank

I once spoke to a chap who was at Lone Pine; modest and unassuming. I really don't know how they did it. For me, the sight of the list of V.C.s won by the A.I.F. during the 1918 German Offensive and Allied Offensive always leaves that prickle up the back of my neck.
