The last plate is not in Oosthuizen's book, which is not proof this isn't ABW. But, I think the image of French is post ABW - the uniform has the look of senior staff/Field Marshal? (promoted to that rank 1913). The slogan "Conquer or Die" is very melodramatic, and I don't quite get it; conquer the Boers, conquer the Germans?.

I did wonder as though it was listed as Boer war, the makers mark is too late and someone else suggested it was not ABW.

I wonder about what the slogan is referring to then. It has that jingoistic tone that seems appropriate for the ABW though would egually apply to the Great War and I cant think to what else apart from those two to what it might refer.

Thanks - Charles Holled Smith - the only one not to serve in the ABW, but was Commandant Local Forces Victoria - I take to be in Australia so representing the Empire, like Otter for Canada.
