I like the church parade photograph, the young boy on the left, seems to want a closer look at these men's uniforms! :)

Or perhaps a future soldier, one who may well have met his fate on the Somme a few years later. :(

David

Thank you for the lists and the church parade photo.

As another aside .......
When I first became interested in Coronation/Jubilee medals, I discovered that they were worn ahead of campaign medals, which seemed very odd. I think it was after WWI that the 'order of wear' changed and campaign medals were given precedence over them.

Brett

The change in the "order of wear" of Coronation/Jubilee medals always intrigued me. If I might quote from my old edition of "collecting Medals and Decorations" by A.A. Purves (4th ed): "Queen's Regs and Admiralty Instructions of 10101891 stated that QV's Jubilee Medal, 1887 was to be given precedence over all other medals (thus coming immediately after orders and decorations) and in Dress Regulations 1911, the Jubilee and Diamond Jubilee medals and the Coronation Medals of EVII and GV took precedence over campaign medals. In an official list dated 05071918, jubilee and coronation medals were to be worn before gallantry and war medals - but this was quickly countermanded by another list, 06111918, in which they were placed AFTER campaign medals".
I trust that A.A.Purves or his shade does not mind me quoting his succinct summary.
Regards to all
