Did you manage to pull out any more info on the photo plus any more news of my grandfathers whereabouts late on in South Africa with the mounted division?

I am originally from South Africa and have in my possession a leather pouch with the following engraving. J. R. Gould 4th BATTn THE SHERWOOD FORESTERS. It would be great to find out some history about JR Gould.
