Hi Everyone,

Sadly my mother passed away in March at the ripe old age of 90 and amongst her belongings I have found a part of the boer was flag .. Any ideas if it's worth anything or of interest to anyone please ?

Many thanks

I suggest you post a photo, as this would help in getting replies from people.

Hi
General de Wet was present at the Peace Negotiations in May 1902 in Vereeniging. There are no records of him going into Kroonstad under a white flag!

Ruth,

The white flag may relate to General Piet de Wet (brother of General Christiaan de Wet) who surrendered to the British at the very end of July 1900.

Can you send a close-up of the name on the flag - it looks like Lieut(enant) surname beginning with H - which might help identify it?

Best wishes,

Justin
