I am really wondering if he was on the other side but going to check into the one Mike found. It was so much easier to find records of his brothers and their service. I have to find records on my immediate uncle and aunts who all went to the UK to serve in the RAF and British Army in the 50's and 60's. This family tree business is very interesting.

Really appreciate your input, thank you :-)

Gentlemen......

I have a dedicated section called Anglo-Boer War for searching in that area only and all I did was type in "Thomas Glynn" and that is the only name that popped up......

Huge thank you Mike - that appears to be my great great uncle

He actually joined the Boer War from Melbourne Australia - and then joined the Regiment Imperial Light Horse.

At six minutes into this talk, his service is described :-)

Thank you everyone. As a result of this conversation and others, I have found his nephew and am hoping to make contact with him.

Best wishes

Rachel

I have to say I am rather surprised, clearly quite a renaissance figure, assuming the information given on the video, in the link provided is correct, he was 479 Trooper in the Victorian Bushmen and 1717 Trooper 2nd Imperial Light Horse, the man who I actually discounted almost immediately, but, I always feel a first hand source is the way to go, for you to prove it is quite easy, if you know his next of kin in 1899, they should be shown on both service papers for the two corps, if they match, then as far as service in the Anglo Boer War goes, you have your man, absolutely beyond all reasonable doubt.
