I think the badge on the 2nd photograph relates to the Oxford and Buckingham Light Infantry David. This would relate to David's original post.
My assumption on the 1st image and Artillery, is the footwear.....they look like boots with leather protection and metal work for spur attachment.

In my humble opinion and for what it's worth, I believe the chap sitting down in the 1st photograph is Charlie Lawn of the 44th Battery RFA
