Hi David,
Dr Jameson was certainly not acting on his own, that would not have been possible, he had the full logistical and financial support of both the Colonial Office and Cecil Rhodes.
Best regards Frank

What about the two Commissions of Enquiry which cleared both Chamberlain and Rhodes?

Hi David,
Well, theatre really, but very much on the same level as a second rate Christmas pantomime as were the proceedings of the committee of the House of Assembley to "inquire into and report upon" in the Cape.
You can sit and read Hansard until you are blue in the face, but, at the end of the day, if I had attempted to take the Transvaal by force, I too, would want to wash my hands of it, moreover I would also want the "facts" to be made public, having first, prepared the ground of course!
Regards Frank
