Thanks Mike - jogged my memory!

I have a QSA to one of the 4th Btty gunners left unwounded - he was mentioned in despatches. I also know the great-nephew of Lt HN Hill, 4th Btty, who was killed. Hill had been commissioned from the IY and his letters from that period (but not his time with the RFA) are with the family.

Its a pleasure. You will now find the text of the Conan Doyle entry on Battle of Kleinfontein and a picture of the memorial on this site and within this topic. Let me know if you can't find it and I will send it directly to you.
Best wishes,
Mike

Thanks very much Mike, that was very kind of you. I was able to download both attachments, no problem and also found and downloaded the book from Gutenberg free E books, now all I need is time to read it!

Kindest regards,

Maria

Thank you once again David for taking the time to look this up.
I have a photocopy of a picture my cousin has of my grandfather dressed in his uniform and with his horse ready to leave for the Boer war, I wonder if it would be of any interest here?

Kind regards,
Maria

Hi Meurig,
I was just wondering what years did Stephen Dance work with the SA War V. Would he have met my grandfather?
Just a thought!

Maria

Hello Maria

Stephen did not work for the SAWVA, he was just an enthusiast like us who took the opportunity to meet a few of the few veterans alive and from there acquired an archive of SAWVA material. This would have been in the 1970's.
