Hi All

Does anyone know what the shoulder title for the Bechuanaland Rifles /Volunteer Rifles would look like?

As per Owen (I know certain members do not always agree with this source) it is a BR. I have found one of these and would like to confirm it as such, however the lugs are more WW1 from my limited experience in this field.

Regards
Brian

Hello Brian,
I take it you refer to the Anglo Boer War period?
If so, then it would certainly not have been that thing in Colin Owen's book!

That is exactly how I felt when looking at the lugs. But if not Bechuanaland Rifles, then I wonder what regiment it belongs to?

I must still post a pic.

Hello Brian,
I certainly did not suggest it was not the Bechuanaland Rifles it is merely the date I would have an issue with, I take it you are unhappy because of hexagonal lugs?

Quite so, those lugs I am sure were not Boer War period, however I am far from an expert. Led to believe those hex lugs came later possibly WW1?

That is the reason any book on badges should always show the reverse as well.

Hello Brian,
Let me put your mind at rest regarding the hexagons, these are both Anglo Boer War and were not worn afterwards, moreover, they both came from your country!
Both the King's Own and the Derbyshire Regiment stopped wearing these patterns in 1902, just to clarify the hexagons.
Kind regards Frank
