Hello Brian,
I believe CO is correct, but, the issue I have is his dates, if he is saying 1897, I would say no, the regiment, was from memory, actually raised from a wretched rifle club in that year, I suspect they are just a little later, there is a stylised BR that is supposed to have been issued during the war before their very famous Nulli Secundus badge, if you had suggested that to me twenty years ago, I'd have laughed, however, a similar RR also exists.
This latter was issued and I've seen two in untouched groups from the families of the original wearers complete with medals, whilst this is the Rhodesia Regiment, the things do appear much the same.
Kind regards Frank

Well done with the Lumsden's Horse, I'm sure you know how rare they are, far harder to obtain than a mere QSA to the same!

Yes, to put it mildly I was very happy to add the Lumsden Badge to the small ABW collection.

I know the DFFA badge is a tad later than the ABW, however it is one I have been after for some time. When they do pop up my pockets are not deep enough, fortune favours the patient in my case. Fortunately I recently acquired a rather nice Transvaal Police helmet badge that was amongst a group purchase I had made. Told a fellow collector here in Pinetown who had a DFFA badge and that did the trick with him . Needless to say we are both happy, he never dreamed he would own that rare helmet plate and I had almost given up owning a DFFA badge. (And I am still friends with the bank manager and the good wife has not left me)

LOL Brian,
Have they really become so expensive then, generally speaking you could visit two or three shops in Johannesburg in the 1970's and fill a shoe box with Anglo Boer War period British Army cap badges, buttons and shoulder titles in the space of a couple of weeks, nobody wanted it, good heavens, how times must have changed, disappointing news Brian!
Well done again, kind regards Frank

Depends on how you look at it, great news if you have a shoe box or two ;)
