Hello Iain,
Forgot to ask you before, so whats all this interest in helmet flashes about then, is this another collecting area of interest that you have?
The problem here is twofold, firstly, its getting them, they were embroidered on to melton cloth which was prone to moth, the very few surviving examples are seldom in reasonable condition, secondly, people just don't realise what they are, in particular, those that appear to be shaped like a curved shoulder title, these latter were often attached to the pagri and not the cover.

Hi Frank,

my interest still lies in headdress badges but I was just trying to establish what was worn when.
Do you have any examples of the curved helmet flash?

regards, Iain

Hello Iain,
Sorry, I had meant to reply, Paul mentioned the word Mafeking! :woohoo: and I got very excited and then Mike showed his DCM! and I got excited again.
In answer to your question, yes.

Hi Frank,

thanks for displaying it; as you say it looks very much like a cloth shoulder title

regards,

Iain
