Strangely enough the site had no page dedicated to the Natal Police. I have rectified that today by splitting the Natal Volunteers, Police and Guides into two pages.

The new Natal Police page can be found here

I have added the QSA (44 pages) and supplementary (42 pages) pages from TNA rolls. These can be downloaded. There is also a list of the NP men who served in the Provisional Transvaal Constabulary (1 page).

New photos have been added, the majority from Holt's history.

I will add the unit orders to the page in due course.

David

I have long believed that the Natal Police, and the foundation Natal Mounted Police and sister Zululand Police, have deserved more attention and credit for their contributions to the 1874-1913 history of Natal. They played their part in settling two wars (Anglo-Zulu and Anglo-Boer), two rebellions (Basutoland and Natal), as well as many tribal faction fights, and innumerable criminal acts. The men accumulated many service medals and a few decorations. All this is enough I think to keep researchers and medal collectors interested and happy.

They have earned the attention you have now given them on your site, and I am most grateful.

Regards
Brett

The name search facility has been added to the page. This gives access to 2,488 names of Natal Policemen who received the QSA/KSA, served in the 1906 Rebellion or were casualties.

This picture was at the end of Holt's book. 75 medals apparently displayed, mostly QSA and Natal 1906. Sadly not named.
