QSA (2) Natal, Transvaal (1837 Tpr: A. E. Nelson. Natal Police)

M&E state 'Trooper Arthur Campbell Nelson of the Natal Police is confirmed on the medal roll, and was killed in action at Mahlabatini, Zululand on 28 April 1901. The original medal roll gives the date as 28 April while ‘The Boer War Casualty Roll’ by Palmer gives the date as 24 April.'

Natal (1) 1906 (Lt. Walter Barry. Natal Police), engraved in a running script;

M&E say 'Walter Barry of the Natal Police is confirmed on the Q.S.A. Medal Roll and is stated to have served as 1st Class Sergeant in Natal throughout the war. He is also confirmed on the Natal Rebellion Roll at the rank of Lieutenant.'

M&E state 'Percy Hawkins Duranty of the Natal Police, is confirmed on the Q.S.A. medal roll with additional entitlement to the clasp S.A. 1901, and is stated to have served in Natal throughout the war. He is also confirmed on the Natal Rebellion roll but as being entitled to the 1906 clasp. He was latterly Honorary Secretary of the Natal Police Old Comrades Association.'

British War and Bilingual Victory Medals (Rfm. L. C. Chase. 3rd S.A.M.R)

Descrived as: 'Lionel Campbell Cathivres Chase enlisted for service with the Natal Police on 8 December, 1900, at Pietermaritzburg, Natal, South Africa, and is confirmed on the medal roll. He continued to serve as a Warder and classified as a Zulu Linguist 2nd Class, only to be discharged on 9 October 1905 at his own request, with 'exemplary character'. His father was from Lusikisiki, Transkei, South Africa. He later served with the 3rd S.A.M.R. during the Great War.'
