QSA (0) (7312 Pte W. Barfoot Vl: Co: R. W. Sur: Regt),

The description states 'Private W. Barfoot, of Winchester, Hampshire, enlisted for service with the 2nd Volunteer Battalion, The Queen’s (Royal West Surrey) Regiment on 23 January 1900, at the age of 23. He served in the Boer War in South Africa as part of ‘A’ (Reigate) Company, and the medal roll for the 1st Volunteer Service Company appears to show entitlement to a 4 clasp Q.S.A. (OFS / Transvaal / Natal / SA1901).'

Deadman of the 2nd Volunteer Battalion, The Queen’s (Royal West Surrey) Regiment, served with ‘F’ (Godalming) Company in the Boer War in South Africa (10 March 1900 to 18 May 1901). Research suggests that he may have been invalided and returned home. The medal roll for the 1st Volunteer Service Company confirms single clasp entitlement.'
