Raised in late 1900 and with a total enrolment nearing 1,000 men, the CCCC worked as scouts and despatch riders, often in small groups attached to other units.

QSA (3) Relief of Kimberley, Paardeberg, Driefontein (2502 Tpr. L. Lee, Robert’s Horse);
KSA (2) (31058 Corpl. L. E. Lee, C.C.C.C.

2502 Trooper L. Lee, Robert’s Horse, was severely wounded at Sannah’s Post, 31 March 1900. As a consequence, he was discharged ‘medically unfit on 13 September 1900. Recovering from his wounds, he served in the Cape Colony Cyclist Corps, 14 February 1901-30 June 1902.

British War and Victory Medals (Capt. H. Bromley.)

Henry Bromley served in South Africa with the Cape Colony Cyclist Corps during the Boer War, and in German South West Africa with the Royal Engineers during the Great War.
