Hi,

A medal for the collector with deep pockets. Below is a caption from a popular auction site with relevant price if you really do need a QSA of the 1st Contingent, New Zealand Mounted Rifles.

An excellent correctly impressed medal and copy photo of 172 Trooper William Renton

No. 2 Company, 1st Contingent, New Zealand Mounted Rifles.

Renton was born in 1874 and had earlier service with the Clutha Mounted Rifles.

He served in the 1st Contingent and stayed on in South Africa for a period with the Provincial Transvaal Constabulary.

William Renton died in Palmerston North NZ in 1936.

Medals to the 1st NZMR Contingent are scarce and highly sought after. Of the 218 men who served in the contingent, just 199 were issued medals off the roll of the contingent. NZMR 1st Contingent QSA’s are very seldom offered or encountered.

Hi Trev,

Nice medal.
Not often seen on the market and not often sold at that price I would guess.

Cheers,

Jim

Hi Trev,
Looks like it was passed at the first listing.
Tempting if you fancied selling a kidney perhaps!
Nice medal though!
Cheers Steve

I have a 1st Contingent NZMR QSA on my website for $1000 less than that. Seller just trying it on, looking for the gullible out there.
