Like a lot of others, I had a look at this and the rolls before not taking a certain course! However, no one on this forum has mentioned the unofficial "Wepener" and "Transvaal" clasps. Perhaps it was too obvious to merit a comment? IL is not on the BMF.
As SWB said, "pantomime" stuff.
IL.

Ian - you're right I am sure, but knowing the Wepener well roll and seeing the naming convinced me straight away these were complete duds, a full autopsy was not required.

Hello Ian,
You certainly don't need to be on the BMF to recognise complete and utter dross when it appears in front of you, an all too frequent occurrence these days.
Regards Frank

The descendent of Luke Gormley is selling off the medals and related paperwork and Boer War diary on ebay .

£2,000 is the asking price.

I think it's a great shame when things like those leave the family, but, I'm encouraged that there are so many families out there these days where the reverse is true and they make efforts for the return of long pawned/sold medals.

Agreed. In his description of the items for sale, the owner says 'ALL OF THESE ITEMS ARE BEING SOLD AS I HAVE NOBODY IN THE FAMILY WHO IS INTERESTED IN THIS HISTORY'. That is very sad.
