I have been lucky enough to get a copy of a named group photograph of the Indian Officers of the 11th Bengal Lancers from Her Majesty The Queen's Royal Collection, a copy of which is attached.
Three individuals wear their Queen's South Africa Medals.
2080 Kote Daffadar Labh Singh CC; OFS; Tvl

Lord Robert's Orderly Daffadar Mirbad Shah Paard;Drei;JHB;DH;Belf;CC

Mirbad Shah it seems was a bit of a "poster" figure for the English press as seen here

and finally 2198 Mohammed Aslam Khan whose has featured previously in these pages ( angloboerwar.com/forum/5-medals-and-awar...ngent?start=72#15609 ) and whose medal previously sold in the rooms of Messrs Dix, Noonan & Webb,

O.B.I. 1st Class
I.G.S. 1854-95 with clasp for Hazara 1891
I.G.S. 1895-1902, with clasps for Relief of Chitral 1895, Malakand 1897 and Punjab Frontier 1897-9
Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1902 (2198 Jamedar Mohd. Islam Khan (sic), 11th Bengal Lcrs.)
Tibet Medal 1903-4, no clasp
Great War Medals
1911 Coronation with Delhi clasp

Footnote
Mohammed Aslam Khan (note different spelling on medal) entered the 11th Bengal Lancers on 11 July 1889. His family connection with the Indian Army dated from 1861 when his grandfather was a Ressaldar in the Sikh Irregular Cavalry and for a time, his uncle, Risaldar-Major Mahommed Akram Khan, was his immediate superior in the Bengal Lancers. Entering the regiment in 1889, he was promoted to Jemadar in January 1896, Risaldar in November 1903 and Risaldar-Major in March 1917.
Through his extensive military service Mohammed Aslam Khan was awarded the I.G.S. 1854-95 with clasp for Hazara 1891; the I.G.S. 1895-1902, with clasps for Relief of Chitral 1895, Malakand 1897 and Punjab Frontier 1897-98; the Q.S.A. with three clasps; the Tibet Medal 1903-4, no clasp and Great War Medals for service in the Mahsud operations and in Mesopotamia. He was awarded the O.B.I. 2nd Class c.1914 and the 1st Class in 1916 (London Gazette 3 June 1916).
With copied photographs and research.

Hi Mike. Spend the evening here www.royalcollection.org.uk/collection/about

I ordered a 50 x 40cm print 4 weeks ago and arrived yesterday. I did notice that HM had a new hat for her Birthday.

I dealt with Agata Rutkowska who could not have been more helpful.
She sent me this....
"You can also always get in touch with curators in Historic Photograph department and ask if there is more in the collection as not everything have been digitised yet:
www.royalcollection.org.uk/about/royal-c...ion-trust/contact-us "

Just a search for 'Boer" brings up 128 items. Many of them photographs.

From the last DNW Auction comes this item.

"DNW Lot 629, 27 September 2017
India General Service 1895-1902, 2 clasps, Punjab Frontier 1897-98, Tirah 1897-98 (331. Muleteer Saif Ali Comst Transport Deptt) unofficial rivets between clasps, good very fine £70-90"

What is unusual is that the majority of medals to muleteers are bronze medals.

What pique my interest is this........

from the rolls of the Indian Transport Corp.

Muleteer Saif Ali is added to the rolls as an "afterthought" and he is the only member that has no regimental number.

He is one of two members of the Indian Contingent that was present for Belmont, Modder River & Relief of Kimberley clasps. In addition Capt. P. Holland-Pryor, 13th Lancers commanded both the Transport during the Tirah Expedition and the Indian Transport Corps. I am not saying.............but you can understand me putting on the tiniest of little bids on it .

If anyone should know if Sir Pomeroy Holland-Pryor KCB, CMG, DSO, MVO left an archive of private papers concerning his time in South Africa, I would be most interested to know of their whereabouts.

David,

A very nice medal.

I cannot see any papers for Holland-Pryor in the usual places, I'm sorry to say.

This image comes from a Glendining’s catalogue of March 2000. It is a sample from a lot of Indian Army pictures. It is described as a ‘very fine group of Corps of Guides, Infantry and Cavalry all winners of the Order of Merit for bravery in the field, circa 1903’

I thought there may be a QSA in there so I scanned the image at 600dpi to have a look. Sadly all I could see was the deep clasps of the IGS.

I thought you would enjoy the picture all the same.
