It would be nice to think that a saleroom notice would have been advised at the time the lot was offered, but alas I think maybe not.

A copy Laing's Nek clasp from the next Bearnes Hampton and Littlewood auction. They have not identified it as a copy.

Original clasp below.

I did write to Bearnes, Hampton and Littlewood on 2nd August about the catalogue description and copy clasp. They acknowledged receipt of my email and said someone would contact me but no one did.

I can see the surname has been corrected in the description but, about the copy clasp, no information has been added.

Anyone bidding on the medals next Monday should note their commission rate is 25% and that the buyer needs to organise postage of the lots unless they are collected from Exeter.

Noonan's state the three clasp on the left are all copies. Originals on the right for comparison,

SA01 and Transvaal are easily identifiable as copies but the quality of the CC clasp is better. I would like to inspect the CC clasp more closely.

The top two clasps are copies (identified as such by Noonan's ). The bottom two are originals.

Noble Numismatics state the top clasp to be a copy. I agree with them.

The lower clasp is original and suggests this is a good copy.
