Are copy clasps always a dealbreaker, or is it dependant on what the buyer is actually expecting/promised?

It can depend on several aspects such as which clasps are copies, whether there is any entitlement to the clasp that os copied, whether the clasp is for an unofficial action eg Magersfontein, etc. Some replace the copy clasps with originals so the cost of the clasps and this work can be a consideration.

Ah! I was considering it purely from a standpoint of "medal has correct clasps but they are copies". Hadn't considered someone being slightly duplicitous!

The Defence of Ladysmith medals to HMS Powerful always demand a premium; here is one that is going to auction tonight but I did’nt like the clasp.

The block letters don’t look straight and the “F” and “T” don’t align nicely with the other letters.

Turns out the recipient is entitled to the Medal only; buyer beware.

I could be wrong about the copy clasp.
