Hello Brian,

What I am referring to is the fact that I do not see him on the Prisoner of War lists. This would mean that he was not caught by the British and sent to prisoner of war camps in St Helena, Bermuda, Ceylon etc. It does not mean that there is a problem with the medal or anything like that at all.

The medal (ABO) roll is a seperate list that shows/confirms the medal or medals awarded to the Boer Chaps. It shows what I mentioned earlier.

As Frank also mentions,"Vorm B" will supply the other details.

The naming on the medal looks absolutely perfect to me.

Brian

There are three C J Pieters on the ABO roll. They are:

Christiaan Jakobus Pieters, Ermelo Commando
Christiaan Johannes Pieters, Grikwaland Commando
Christoffel Jakobus Pieters, Rustenburg Commando

Perhaps the second one (Grikwaland) is the nearest and most likely for someone leaving the Cape Colony.

Brett,

You beat me to it.

Correct, only three men with the same initials on the ABO roll. Should be dead simple to find which one he is as the family should know the chaps Christian names.

Hi Guys

It is Christiaan Johannes Pieters, Grikwaland Commando :woohoo:

I would just like to thank all you guys for being so helpful.

I have never been on a "collectors" forum this pleasant.

I already feel at home. :P

Chris also has some very nice photos of the war and some with his Grandfather and other infantry of the same commando.

Can anybody assist me maybe what the estimate value of this medal might be. Chris wants to sell it and I am very interested in buying it. He is a dear friend so I don't want to "rip him off", but I also do not want to shoot myself in the foot.

What would you consider to be a fair offer? (I won't hold you to it)

Regards
Brian

Hi'

I apologise for all the question, but If I don't ask I won't learn... B)

This "Vorm B". What is it exactly and why do only a few ppl have access to this information?

Also do i need any additional information to apply for the "Vorm B"?

Is there any additional information on the roll for C. J. Pieters like infantry nr for example?

Where can I download this service roll?

Regards,
Brian
