Hello Brian,

Attached is an ABO application form,"Vorm B". Anyone can access these if you are prepared to hustle your way around the Archives. If you don't know your way around an Archive it can take a long time so it's just easier to use the guys that do it all the time.

An offer around the R2500-00 to R3000-00 mark would be about right as this seems to be the going rate on auctions etc unless there is anything special that pops up. There is nothing pertaining to the ABO medal that can be downloaded to the best of my knowledge.

Regards
Adrian

Form B is the application form for the medal. You had to apply and get officers who knew you to verify you were indeed entitled.

It has the name and address, and most interestingly the battles he was involved in.

They are in the archives in Pretoria. A researcher will know whete to find them.

Value is about R2500 generally for these I think.

Here are two that sold yesterday at John Nicholson's auction in the UK, so R2500, if you include the premium seems about right.

LOL, it was not so long ago when they could be had for £40-£60, how times have changed, however, I still think they are rarer than they are expensive!
