I have one of these. I'm trying to research. Wondering what it's worth? It's in nice condition.
Thanks!

Hello Bear.....

They are very hard to research unless you have a medal to go with it and then you can just check the name...... It is sad that they did not name the metal ones..... I do have a list of the Canadian winners of the 83 that were awarded......

As to value it is very subjective so all I can say is it is worth what someone would be willing to pay.....

The price of Captain Arthur Martin-Leake VC and Bar would be more valuable than Trooper Arthur Fuller......

Hi Mike,

Thank for your quick reply! Mine belonged to William Henry Gibbons. I have a photo that came with it. The photo shows Gibbons and 4 other named men.

Good Morning Carol......

E2072 TROOPER WILLIAM HERBERT GIBBONS

Well he is a Canadian..... One of the 24 members to win a Gallantry Badge.....

The problem is that even though he is listed in my book as winning one it does not tell me how and when...... Damn......

My suggestion is that you contact a researcher that is in South Africa that can look up his files and maybe he has something there......

South African Service Records & Archives (inc. Police)
[email protected]

South African Service Records, Recommendations and Citations
These are an extensive compilation of privately constructed archives:
• South African Constabulary files including attestation forms
• Various military service records / medal application and recommendation files up to the Korean War
• Citations for military awards to South Africans
[email protected]

The only thing that he is listed in the Canadian Archives is for a Land Grant on his return from South Africa......

What are the other names on the photo and is he wearing the badge in the picture??????
