When I saw Henk's collection I was so excited that I didn't even look what language was used in this forum.

Johannes Jacobus KOEN was my father's grandfather and I am busy doing research on him. I am quite proud of him.

I am grateful to Henk for posting the photograph and for allowing me the opportunity to get to see my great grandfather's medals.

I bought the group some 8 years ago from the grandson who still farms on Louterwater, Senekal. He had inherited them from his father.

“Had it not been for this officer my task in the North Eastern Districts of the Cape Province would have been one of the utmost difficulty. I recommend him for special recognition”

Copy of his Vorm A shows that he was on the staff of Gen Louis Botha. Copy of Vorm C shows that he was wounded on the 5th August 1901.
