The hospital and refuge at Intombi, Ladysmith.

I have copied a series of photographs taken by Henry Kisch and reproduced in the book, 'The Siege of Ladysmith in 120 Pictures', which was published in 1900. The first photo in David's post is one taken by Kisch, so I wont reprint it. It was claimed that these were the only pictures taken at the Ntombi Camp during the Siege.

The first shows Lieutenant-Colonel R W Mapleton, RAMC, and his staff.

The second photo shows the medical staff and attendants.

This is a general view of the camp.

What does this area look like now, I take it not like it did in these photographs?

Another general view. The caption includes the following:
"The Camp was patrolled by the Dutch, and was christened 'Funkemsdorp' as a suggested title of residence for those members of the Town Guard, who fearlessly took up their abode there."
