My 3 x Great Grandfather served in the Boer War. Whilst I have gained some information from his medal and initial research, I have been unable to establish a cause of death or grave. Is there anyone that can help me please? Information so far includes

3rd Battalion Railway Pioneer Regiment, 1926
Special Clerks Asc, Pte c/4

Death 15/07/02 Clan William

When I carry out a search an L Padbury listing is shown with the same date of death, could this be him?

Many thanks, I am new to military history, do you know if there will be a death certificate or record of his death anywhere? Looking at the information I have found so far I don't think he was killed in action.

Thanks again

I think it must be as it's the same date of death and number. Thank you so much you have just made my day, I can't wait to show the family! I have also managed to find a cause of death in the local newspaper announcements.

Once again thank you

The medal roll has him as C4 Pte G.Padbury and the remarks column on the roll states died 15/07/1902. I think that they simply and by error put the incorrect initial on the grave marker.
