Hello all, this is my first post.
I am trying to research A Leighton, 4010, who served in S Africa in the Boer war, I am trying to find out anything about his service at this time, I know that he also served in WW1.
Any help would be appreciated.
regards
Jack

Thanks Mike,
Yes i do have his medal (QSA 4 bars) as well as his 3 medals from WW1. The info you gave ties up with the medal bars, is there any way that I can find out about his service at this time, dates of joining etc?
once again thanks for your reply

Hello Jack,
Service papers for the period in question here for members of the British Army will be found at The National Archives Kew, almost all of WO97, WO363 and WO364 are available on line via FMP and Ancestry, if you can't see them after conducting a search, which is free to search and download whilst at Kew, it simply means that they have been far less likely to have survived, you can blame this on some German visitors in 1940 :( ,but, it does not mean they do not exist, in such cases, a manual search would be needed to give a conclusive answer.
Welcome to this forum,
Regards Frank
