E. Bushby was killed at Tarkastad on 17 September 1901 He was a member of the 17th (Duke of Cambridges Own) Lancers
I am attempting to establish whether or not he is my wifes Great Grandfather. I do know that he lived in Croydon UK and that his wifes name was Louisa. Where can I obtain more details on this gentleman?

This man was killed at Modderfontein, in the famous and very bloody skirmish that cost the life of Winston Churchill's own cousin, Richard Sheridan, the squadron of the Death or Glory Boys were involved in a surprise attack by Boers of Smut's Commando, so he was not discharged.
Given that, you would not expect to find any service papers in WO97 at Kew, or indeed, via FMP, from a pure military point of view, I think I would speak to the QRL Museum and see what they have to say.
From a family point, I would consult the birth, baptism and census records at Kew, before doing anything else, if I were you.
Moreover, if you are lucky enough to have his medal, look after it, it is quite valuable.

Just thought I would add a couple of pics from the Modderfontein Cemetery in the Tarkastad District.

Hello Adrian,
I have always felt sorry for Messrs Morrit, Sheridan and Russell, Haig was very upset, but, they had not bothered to post proper pickets and on the day in question, both that, along with a certain amount of lack of effective command cost them their lifes.
Kind regards Frank
