Might anyone be able to give me more information about the action 25th of November 1899 at Carter's Ridge, near Kimberley?

I've found:
On 25th November 1899 the garrison launched a sortie on Carter’s Ridge to the South West of the town, attempting to capture the Boer artillery established on the high ground. The attack was a limited success, catching the Boers by surprise but failing to take any of the guns.

I've found a South African Death Notice ( familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-C9B...2-G?i=1258&cat=25414 ) for James Corrie (born in Ireland) who was a Private in the Cape Police District 2 and died 25th November 1899 at Carter's Ridge. His wife Alice Ellen Corrie née McOrren's Death Notice also makes mention of his death in Kimberley in November 1899. I'd love to know more about James Corrie.

Sadly, James' son William Albion Corrie dies in France aged 18 during WW1.

Hello
David Biggins' book "Kimberley Siege Account and Medal Roll" devotes quite some space to the action at Carter's Ridge on 25th November 1899.

I'll try and get a copy of the book. Thanks again.
