I would agree. There were some 92 medals to the BSAP, 8% of the DoMs.

Hello Paul,
Rank and file BSAP are so often a real pain backside from just a medal point of view, notwithstanding, a great many were from our towns and cities.
If I were you, in the interest, purely, of research, I would go for a "well known" member of the Town Guard, a Cape Policeman or a member of the Protectorate Regiment, this latter being SAMIF.

Have you got a good relief, I used to find really nice ones rather harder to find than a defence when I originally collected, if not, I suppose you would need and indeed, actually want two examples to both Plumer's and Mahon's forces.

This medal happens to be the medal awarded to the G. G. Grandfather of a member of the collectors society here in Calgary......

Who was also a Trooper A. Mackenzie, B.S.A. Police in the 1970 / 80's

To say that he was very excited would have been an understatement when I told him about it and where it was......

He knew that the medals (Family that is) including some from WW1 and WW2 existed but other than a couple of WW1 medals he obtained he thought that he would never see them again.....
