I am looking the the DTD, BWM and VM to complete the group to George Willem Holl.

DSO GV
[DTD]
ABO (Veldkornet G. W. Holl)
LvW
14-15 Star (Lt. Col. G.W. Holl Potch. Cdo.)
[BWM & VM]

George Willem Holl served with the Potchesfstroom Commando during the Boer War, from October 1899, serving at Mafeking, Magersfontein and Paardeburg. He was captured at Paardeburg and interned as a prisoner of war on St Helena. In May 1921 he was awarded the DTD, the ABO and the Wound Ribbon (LvW) having been wounded in July 1901 at Zuurfontein near Potchesftroom (which conflicts with his capture at Paardeberg).

During the 1st World War he served in the 6th South African Horse in the rank of Lt Colonel (LG 4 Dec 1916) with seniority from 5 Jan 1915, during the German South West Africa campaign. He relinquished his commission on the 27 Sep 1916 when diagnosed with a serious illness. He was MID (Supp LG 22 Aug 1918) and created a DSO (Supp LG 22 Aug 1918). His 1914-15 Star was despatched to him on the 15 Oct 1920 and his BWM and Victory Medal 15 July 1925.

His recommendations states: Lt Col, George Willem Holl, Potchesftroom ‘A’ Commando: ‘Very capable, conscientious and vigilant. Devoted to his duties, takes a keen interest in his officers and men, a good and quick organiser and leader in the field. Displayed qualities of a high order’. Recommended by O C Wing, South African Field Force, despatch for the period 4 August 1914 to 9 July 1915. Recommended for the DSO.

He married Sarah Josina Landman d. 1946 and they had 3 children, Johanne Maria Kok (nee Holl, Samuel, Murial Elsie Prinsloo (nee Holl), Jacobus Nicolaas.

A fantastic group and photograph to match David.

Was Nicolette able to shed any light on the missing medals?
