Presentation at Elsdon. – An interesting presentation took place at the Bird in the Bush Inn, Elsdon, to Robert William WHALEY, who is leaving the district for active service in South Africa with the Imperial Yeomanry. The presentation consisted of a gold albert and pendant, and purse of gold, from the inhabitants of Elsdon and district, as a token of esteem and appreciation. Mr T.A. Dunn occupied the chair, and the presentation was made by Mr D.R. Potts, who bore testimony to the respect in which Mr R.W. WHALEY was held in Elsdon and district, after which Mr WHALEY briefly responded. The remainder of the evening was spent in harmony, songs being sung by Mr Oliver, Mr Dickinson, Mr Anderson, Mr Anders, and others. A very enjoyable evening was spent.
