On Friday week, in Como House, Mentone, Private Mark HAWKER, A.I.R., was presented with a gold locket by Mr G Stayner, subscribed for by the members of the Highett Cricket Club. Mr Stayner eulogised the recipient as a stirling cricketer, and one who would show his mettle on the battlefield. Mr HAWKER briefly responded. The medal bore the inscription "Presented to Private M. Hawker by the members of the Highett Cricket Club as a token of esteem on his departure with the A.I.R."
