Poynder | Geoffrey William | | Lieutenant | He died of enteric at Kroonstad, February 18th, 1902. He was born in March 1874, educated at Charterhouse, and entered the Royal West Surrey Regiment May 1896, being promoted Lieutenant November 1897. In 1899 Lieutenant Poynder was stationed at the depot at Guildford, but proceeded to South Africa in March 1900, and served throughout the war until his death. His name was engraved on a tablet, erected at Guildford by their comrades, in memory of all ranks of The Queen's Royal West Surrey Regiment who fell in the war and also on the tablet in the War Memorial Cloister at Charterhouse.
