Rowan | Ernest Courteney | | Lieutenant | He died of enteric at Pretoria, February 25th, 1901. He was born in February 1872, and educated privately and at the High School, Woolwich. In January 1900, he joined the 44th Company Imperial Yeomanry as a trooper, and quickly rose to the rank of corporal and 2nd Lieutenant. Embarking for South Africa in March 1900, he saw much service and was awarded the medal with four clasps. At the time of his death he was attached to the Army Service Corps with the rank of Lieutenant.
