Hello Frank,
Yes I would recommend it.
Mine I think is a second edition is really nice condition and it does have that really nice feel of an old book.
I might be wrong but I think this book did not have a dust jacket just an ornate covering.
Incidently I purchased it from the antiquarian book store in York opposite the Minster and paid the princely sum of £7 have seen it listed on the internet for much more.

Paul :)

Hi Paul,
I don't think seven pounds was over the top these days, a second edition would be an old book too!

Hello Paul,
Yes, a very good account of the fighting in Natal, Bennett Burliegh was the special correspondent of the Daily Telegraph, at Elandslaagte he reprimanded Melton Prior of the Illustrated London News for wearing a white helmet as it was presenting a magnificent target for the Boers!
Get yourself a nice old copy.
Regards Frank

I've finally bought a copy of "The story of the ILH in the SA war" by Gibson. I've just got to wait for it to be delivered, then some reading over Christmas! :cheer:
