Lloyd George's opposition and scathing attacks on Chamberlain and the Conservatives were so strong that postcards referring to them were used against him 10 years after the conflict.
Crowds flocked to his meetings as Lloyd George continued 'Going for Joe' after the election, and this postcard recalls a meeting in 1901 in Birmingham. The disturbance was so great that L G only managed to escape from the hall disguised as a policeman .

Postcard published by the National Union of Conservatives and Constitutional Associations. St Stephen's Chambers, Westminster.
Printed by David Allen & Sons Ltd. A cartoon reproduced from the Daily Express.
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
Best regards,
Dave

The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.

Nine cards: seven printed/published by Künzli Frères, éditeurs, Paris; one by Ottmar Zieher, München; and one by Diehl & Cnobloch, Amsterdam.

Although only three are signed, I believe these are all the work of Arthur Thiele, Leipzig.

1. Chocolat Anglais et - des pâtés boers.
2. Une surprise á contretemps.
3. Les Perspectives du Lord Roberts / De uitzichten van Lord Roberts (Dutch version shown).
4. Lady-Smith la prude et l'aimable Joubert.
5. Le déblai boer.
9. Les pigeons courriers des Anglais!
