I am sorry that you lost out, Mike, but, as Paul said, you still have something.

I recently made an unsuccessful offer on a lot of copied paperwork relating to the Natal Volunteer Ambulance Corps. It will now go elsewhere, but, hopefully, it will be not be kept hidden away. Collecting is a competitive business!

Whilst there is no doubt whatsoever that medals are very nice indeed, they are really a personalised commemorative token that was never intended to be thrown away, however, letters, diaries, drawings and to a lesser extent, even uniform and certain badges, have all really had a "shelf life" and these are always far rarer than medals, they are contemporary to the Anglo Boer War, not only are they rare, but, on occasion, they can, quite rightly, command a high price and be very expensive indeed.

Appalled? wake up man this is the real world, I'm quite sure that if Mike were to need to sell his collection he would not sell to me cheap because I have his letters, I have no emotional attachment to these whatsoever, they have no sentimental value any more , if they did they would still be together

Hi mike, really sorry you missed out, I do like selling to real collectors but sadly as has been pointed out they are much sought after. I would have sent more copies but 1 of the bidders had seen the pics I posted on here and asked me not to post anymore , sorry .
