As a matter of fact I have sold medals for less than I paid for them so long as they are re-unites with other things that were needed to make a complete unit......

In fact last year I returned a Fathers Boer War Pair-WW1 Trio-LSGC and a Sons WW2 Group of 8........ FREE OF CHARGE.........

As I said as far as I am concerned all sentimental value went when they were separated and sold off FOR MONETARY VALUE , I have no emotional attachment to them or to you so that's just how it goes I suppose(sorry to be blunt) , I did think they were yours tbh but sadly it was not to be. I am a collector myself and have lost out many times before so I know the feeling , also I really cannot afford to give stuff away especially when I paid quite a price for them myself at auction. I hope the new owner does contact you over these because I can see your enthusiasm is great .

Mike,
That was a very kind thing to do, I doubt if there are very many others who would have done the same thing, Santa Claus, really does spring to mind here, have you obtained a replacement as far as the particular regiment is concerned for the Anglo Boer War?

Good Morning Frank......

Yes I do, one of the reasons that I bought them was because it was father and son, I have a soft spot for them and have a few sets..... Was initially not going to buy them because they were plated.......

lkp,

I've nothing against you for selling the items to the highest bidder. For many, this is a key driver. I know several dealers who openly admit that they only deal in medals for the profit they can make from them.

It is though unfortunate that an opportunity to provide the owner of the medal with copies of such valuable information has been lost. Yes, the new owner may make contact and do this but it would have been a nice gesture from you, having advertised the material on this site, to have done so yourself.

Kind regards
David

I don't see it that way I'm afraid , you medal dealers/collectors would not have any medals if not for people selling for monetary gain , do you not feel some pain buying them knowing they could be being sold through family hardship ? I collect myself though not this sort of stuff, I do not expect people to sell me items cheap because I have something to match it with .
I did say that I had been asked by a bidder to not publish any more on this or any other site and I can see his point , I would be most unhappy if my collection of autographs was available to view on another site . Also it was not my intention to "advertise" though I can see why you would think so, I was merely trying to research the a bit and his name landed me here, my 1st intention with them was to publish them all as an e-book but tbh it was way beyond my capabilities, research etc . Luckily the person that bought them was not the person that asked me not to publish so hopefully Mike will get a good look at them.
