Durkin's QSA hammered for a reasonable £380 this afternoon. This was nearly half the cost of the QSA to Stoddart and £700 less than the QSA to Knibbs. Not sure I can work out why that is.

One of my prized DCM's (from the Spink Boer War Sale)

DCM/QSA to Gunner P Nolan, "Q" Bty, RHA
According to the Muster Roll, Nolan was a gunner in "A" Subdivision of Q Battery at Sannas Post.
A mutilated submission recommending Nolan, among others, for the DCM is to be found in WO 146/1 but the date is missing.
Nolan's Citation is in WO 32/7878

The WO file refers to the action as at Korn Spruit which was the other name used in literature.

Robert Gillinder was born in 1878 at Gateshead, Durham. He worked as a moulder before attesting for the Royal Artillery on 28 November 1898 and serving in South Africa from 19 December 1899-6 November 1902. He served with 'Q' Battery during the action at Sanna's Post and later transferred to 'O' Battery on 9 December 1901.

He saw further service in India before being discharged on 27 November 1910.
