Having once owned the 1879 to a survivor (Sgt. Walsh) of the Newcastle Mounted Rifles I am now on the track of the KIA to the same outfit - Sgt Andrew Swan.

I know where it is now to acquire it!!

Good luck indeed, Rory! A Newcastle Mounted Rifles Dartnell Patrol medal is on my wish list. I have examples from the other Natal units - Natal Mounted Police, Natal Carbineers and Buffalo Border Guard. They cost about 10% of the price of an Isandlwana casualty, hence my interest in them.
