I am looking into J Cairne/Cairns of 2nd Brabant's Horse.

His group came up in February 2011:

QSA (3); 1914 Star (Capt E Lancs); BWM and VM (Major); IGS 1908 (1) Waziristan 19-21 (Major RE). Liverpool Medals February 2011 £800.

I last recorded part of it in 2018 at British Medals where only the QSA (3) was offered. It is no longer on offer.

I wonder why/how the group became split. Apparently the QSA is named to Cairne so perhaps someone thought they were two different recipients. The QSA was a later issue so the style of naming is non-standard. Perhaps this added to the doubt?

WO100/287p232 (2nd Royal Canadians) contains this entry for John Donald Mackay

The roll initially indicated the clasps CC, OFS and Tr but the note says 'wrote for return of OFS, 15 February 1905'. The Wepener clasp is then ticked to be added.

This is the only known Wepener clasp named to a Canadian unit and is surely a roll error.

Felix Lutge enlisted at Grahamstown 19/6/88 aged 18, changed his name to Baum, served with 1Troop 1/1/90, B Sqn 1/10/93, HQ 1/4/94, Artillery, C Sqn 11/7/08, re-mustered in SAMR 23/6/14 retired to pension 18/6/20, appears to have only home service in WW1, also issued CGHGSM Bechuanaland clasp, 1906 LSGC, 1911 Coronation Medal and probably just a WW1 BWM.

Another group that has been split up, a great shame.

Indeed, Frank. Complete it is a lovely group.

There is a chance for a re-unite here as DNW sold the CGHGSM and Cape LG&GC three times, most recently in 2012.
