Another new, extant Wepener QSA.

This is what I have in Edward Welby:

Welby, Captain Edward James, Cape Mounted Rifles | QSA (4) CC Wep Tr Witt, KSA (2) | Enlisted, Trooper (1980), 1 October 1889. Served in Pondoland in 1894. Lieutenant 1 January 1897. Operations in the Orange Free State, March to May 1900. Operations in the Transvaal, west of Pretoria, August to November 1900. Operations in Orange River Colony, May to August 1900, including actions at Wittebergen (1 - 29 July). Operations in Cape Colony, south of the Orange River, 1899 to 1900. Officer Commanding Depot No 1 Division November 1901 to June 1902. Officer Commanding No 4 Area July 1902 to January 1903. Adjutant, CMR, 1903. Temporary Captain 1 May 1904. Served in the Great War, participating in the GSWA campaign, 1 September 1914 to 9 July 1915. Took part in the battle of Sandfontein, 26 September 1914. Transferred to 1st SAMR. He subsequently commanded the 2nd SAMR. Taken prisoner | Medals: QSA (4); KSA (2); 1914-15 Trio extant | Ref: 241p3, 359p267

Enlisted 2nd BrH (1118) 9 January 1900 in Port Elizabeth. Discharged 19 January 1901 in Cape Town. Served SALH 24 June 1901 to 2 April 1902. Aged 28 at SALH attestation in Durban. Nationality: English. Trade: Fish merchant. 5'9" with fresh complexion, blue eyes and auburn hair. Conduct at discharge: Very goog. Address after discharge: 51 Oliver Street, Birhenhead, Cheshire. Settlement of £56/10. 4 clasps issued by BrH 30 April 1904. KSA from SALH issued 15 October 1904

That's an amazing coincidence. Had not noted this QSA as being extant and then find it twice in the same day.

This QSA went under the hammer at McTear's in Glasgow in 2006:

QSA (5) TALANA', 'ELANDSLAAGTE', ORANGE FREE STATE', 'WITTEBERGEN' and 'WEPENER' (1184 GNR.D.CHRISTIE. EDIN.COY. R.G.A.)

Sadly his entitlement was the more prosaic Natal, Transvaal and SA01.
