Hi Ian & Frank

Every day brings some new knowledge!
I copied the figure of 100 men initially in the BG directly from Tylden.
Lot 190 has been one of my favourite medals for many years: I am glad it went to an appreciative and caring custodian.

Hello Ian,
It is a very good medal, I actually quite like the western front as far as the SAMIF goes, even though it is Natal and the Northern Transvaal that I find the most interesting these days.
I recently bought a five clasp to Kitchener's Horse, whilst I am pleased with it, this medal is certainly nothing like as good as yours.
Regards again Frank

Thanks for the reply. Can we pay too much? All of us can say "yes" at one point; however not in the case of A64/190. When I get the chance to have some research done on this one, I will bear in mind your kind guidance.
Best regards for the new year - and with not too many "mad scrambles" in it!
IL.

You can be assured that it will be very much appreciated and fit in very nicely.

Your 5 clasp job to KH is also very nice; especially if it has RofK clasp on it. I do like RofK on a QSA because the clasp qualifications were pretty tight and I have been buying interesting examples when I can.
Speaking entirely for myself, I do not regard any QSA/combo as "better" than another. Perhaps "more interesting" is a term I would prefer. All a matter of opinion.
Regards to both

Hello Ian,
Yes, the same clasp combination, less the Belfast, I like to see Relief of Kimberley and Paardeburg to members of the SAMIF, common enough clasps to the British army, but, only a very limited number of SAMIF units were raised in time to receive them, Robert's Horse is the common one, Kitchener's Horse less so, it was a rather smaller corps.
Kind regards Frank

Hi Ian & Frank,

I had a 'go' at 190 also but was left in the wake, when you look at it it is not an expensive medal considering it's rarity. I've paid more for QSA's to Queenslanders on many occasions and none was anywhere a rare as that one. A very good catch Ian. It looks as though I was in luck and secured 194, I must admit that have a soft spot for the early QSA's.
I'm confident that I have picked up a few TG QSA's also, as mentioned previously it was very good list of medals.

Cheers,

Jim

My invoice is in. I got the East London TG and the Aliwal North TG. Those were the ones I wanted so am happy with them, even if I got outbid on a lot of others!
