That is very true, although, to be quite honest, it is certainly nothing new, I feel a little sorry for collectors in South Africa, a great number of lots will leave the country, given the state of the Rand.

A nice ABO to pair with a QSA casualty from the same battle - like Henk's write up in the catalogue.

Generally super examples of QSAs.

That's very interesting Ian, what makes you say that?

I am not sure if Ian refers to the content or the technical presentation.

I am sure all auction houses would like to emulate the content - but there is only one Henk Loots collection!

I do not like the technical presentation, I can't see the advantage over a PDF file. I think these "flip books" are over engineered and the auction houses have been sold a "shiny".

I like the presentation and the simulated catalogue format. Of course I have noted it in previous City Coins auctions. Since IL has been a regular bidder - with some success over the years - they mail a "proper" copy and that goes into the library for reference.

Hi all

In this auction, they have lot 63, a single QSA with NATAL bar to 1761 Pte G Buckingham, with a copy of the roll. I cant find anything on him, his number or anything else, he is also not mentioned in the initial roll for the 2nd Battalion. The unit was at Colenso, so unless he arrived late to join them, something seems interesting, especially with the ornate silver suspender? Most of the 2nd Battalion who have a clasp seem to have the belmont clasp

Any thoughts.

Doug.
